What We Do

Our mission at St. Mark Lutheran can be described in four words: learn, lift, live, and look. Below is information on why these particular words describe our mission.

Learn

"Let the wise listen and add to their learning." (Proverbs 1:5)

At Saint Mark, we practice "continuing education" for all our members. As followers of Jesus, we want to learn all we can about him and his Word. To this end, we offer a number of opportunities throughout the week for believers of all ages to come together and study God's Word. Whether you're learning the basics or looking for something more advanced, we will find the class that's right for you.

Lift

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD." (Psalm 134:2)

At Saint Mark, we treasure the opportunity to come together to worship our God and to encourage one another in Christian love. In worship, we rejoice that God speaks to us through his Word and Sacraments, and we, in turn, respond by singing his praises, confessing our faith and bringing him our offerings. In our worship, we seek to embrace our Lutheran heritage, while also occasionally incorporating more contemporary styles.

Live

"That those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." (2 Corinthians 5:15)

At Saint Mark, we believe that while the 1 hour we spend in worship every Sunday is important, the other 167 hours of the week are equally useful opportunities to proclaim the praises of our God. So we strive to regularly schedule occasions where we can get to know our "faith family." That also means that we attempt to help our members recognize their God-given talents and look for avenues in which they can put those talents to use, so that all we do will give glory to "the one who dies and was raised again for us."

Look

"Open your eyes and look at the fields!" (John 4:35)

At Saint Mark, we believe that Jesus has given his people the mission to be his messengers in the world. Therefore, we consider our privilege to reach out to those who don't know or have lost touch with him. We consider the Little Lamb Preschool to be a vital part of our efforts to reach beyond our four walls and take the message of God's saving love to the community. We sincerely hope that you will accept our invitation to find out more about Saint Mark, "Where the Word and the World Meet."
